Sesame is a flowering plant which mostly grows in Africa and India. Sesame seed is one of the oldest oilseed crops known, domesticated well over 3000 years ago. Sesame crops are growing in quantity and  is tolerant to drought-like conditions, growing where other crops fail. Sesame has one of the highest oil contents of any seed. With a rich, nutty flavour, it is a common ingredient in cuisines across the world. It can trigger allergic reactions in some people.

VEGETARIAN’S FRIEND

Unusually for vegetable sources sesame seeds are rich in the amino acids, important for good lever and kidney health. They are best source of minerals like magnesium, calcium and phosphorus. Eat a Vitamin-C rich fruit or vegetables at the same meal, though to help your body absorb this nutrients in seed. Sesame seeds are a good source of polyunsaturated fatty acids and the antioxidant Vitamin E. They are best source of minerals like magnesium, calcium and phosphorus.

Sesame seed is worldwide a common ingredient in various cuisines. It is used whole in cooking for its rich, nutty flavour. Sesame seeds are sometimes added to burger buns, roti-naan, cakes-cookies, curries, sweets-desserts and shakes. Sesame Halwa made from pounded sesame seeds and honey is very common in Arab countries as well sesame seeds bar made with jaggery is very common in Indian regions.

Sesame seed is one of the most widely used Ayurvedic medicines. From the Ayurvedic perspective, they are absorbed and enter the body channels very quickly. They are heavy and deep penetrating , have a hot potency with a sweet post-digestive effect. Many people consume raw or roasted sesame seeds after their meals as they are laxative so good for digestion.

Sesame seeds are considered to be strength promoting . They are a hair tonic and rejuvenator . They improve the complexion , detoxify the body , promote intelligence-memory and improve digestion. They are good for bones and muscles that’s why people use it’s oil for massage. Sesame seeds are excellent source of oil, it’s oil benefits are even more.
