Bitter Gourd Chat

Here we tried chat out of Bitter gourd which is definitely make your meal variety.

Bitter gourd are widely grown in Asia, Africa and the Caribbean for it’s edible fruit. That is also called bitter melon. That is called “Karela” in Hindi.Bitter gourd may be in variety of shapes and sizes. Young bitter gourds (skin is bright green and seeds are small and tender) are the best for cooking. Mature bitter gourd are more bitter in taste so when you select bitter gourd be careful. : )

Bitter gourd is commonly eaten in south and central Asia and throughout India. As there are many regions in India where people follow different culture have different style of cooking Bitter gourd as curry with combination of coconut / yoghurt/ stuffing and spices.To decrease bitternes of bittergourd soak in in cold water or after cutting add salt and keep it for few minutes. Bitter gourd is also consumed as soup, juice and medicinal tea.

Bitter gourd is packed of calcium and beta carotene. Various anti-oxidents and anti-inflammatory are present in it.

INGREDIENTS  

  • 5 Bitter gourd small and bright green in color
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp chat masala
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp dry mango powder
  • 2 tbsp gram flour (chickpea flour)
  • 2 tbsp rice flour
  • oil for frying
  • Salt to taste
  • Sweet Date chutney For garnish

Bitter Gourd Chat

Ingredients
  

  • 5 Bitter gourd small and bright green in color
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp chat masala
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp dry mango powder
  • 2 tbsp gram flour (chickpea flour)
  • 2 tbsp rice flour
  • oil for frying
  • Salt to taste
  • Sweet Date chutney For garnishing

Instructions
 

  • Wash and peel the bitter gourd. Cut them in round thin slices.
  • Put some salt into cut bitter gourd, mix and keep them aside for 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile you can make preparation of other ingredients.
  • Now remove access water and if seeds are in bitter gourd then remove them gently that it's flesh will not be removed.
  • Add 1/2 tsp chat masala and all other spices into sliced vegetable , mix well.
  • Now add gram flour and rice flour. Mix them well with bitter gourd.
  • Deep fry these slices of bitter gourd until they are crispy and little brown in color.
  • Take fried slices into serving bowl sprinkle remained chat masala on it and serve hot bitter gourd chat.
  • Options : 1. You can add yoghurt and sweet date chutney while serving.
    2. You can add fried green chillies and onions on it.
